Description

Do you want to get the best mileage out of your Sony cameras? 

S-Log recording on your camera is designed to give you maximum flexibility in post-production. But if you want to ensure the results are optimum, then it helps to understand the colour grading process for S-Log files. 

In this half-day session, Ian Wee, a Blackmagic Design Certified Trainer and post-production lecturer, uses DaVinci Resolve, an industry-standard colour grading tool, to teach you the essentials of grading S-Log files.

He will explain what S-Log is, what its advantages are, and when you should use it. He’ll also guide you through some post-production tips and tricks to make the most of your S-Log recordings.

While this is not a full colour grading course, it is designed as a quick way to jumpstart your understanding of colour and how it applies to the files you get from your Sony camera.

Pre-Requisite

To participate in this training, you should possess:

  • Basic computer literacy, including knowing how to:
    • Navigate the computer interface using a mouse and keyboard
    • Create, save, open, and organise files and folders
  • Physical ability to climb a flight of stairs to access the training venue (1 level only, no direct elevator access available)
  • You do not need prior experience with DaVinci Resolve to benefit from this class
  • Workstations with DaVinci Resolve software will be provided. You just need to bring your own writing materials if you’d like to take notes.

CURRICULUM

  • What is S-Log, and what are its benefits?
  • Introduction to the Resolve Colour page interface 
  • Using Primaries to grade Log from scratch 
  • Using Secondaries and Power Windows to enhance the image further
  • Introducing Lookup Tables (LUTs) as a quick way to grade
  • Introduction to Colour Management
  • Ensuring colour accuracy when exporting for social media

You will receive a certificate of completion endorsed by SDW and AV8 Media
