Photography isn’t just about pointing a camera and pressing a button—it’s about how you see the world and tell your story.

This creative and conceptual photography workshop designed to shift the way we see, think, and feel when creating images. Unlike traditional courses focused on technical mastery, this program guides you through the soft skills of photography—from visual mindfulness and storytelling to intuitive composition and emotional intention.

Through theory, guided observation, and a practical shoot, you will explore how to train your photographic eye, refine your visual voice, and learn to envision your shots photographically.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Develop a mindful, intentional approach to seeing and capturing photographs
  • Understand how light affects mood, emotion, and the visual impact of a photo
  • Explore creative composition beyond standard rules—using contrast, abstraction, juxtaposition, and layering
  • Apply storytelling, visual metaphors, emotional and situational awareness when photographing
  • Discover how different choice of lenses can shift visual perspectives

A limited number of the following lenses will be available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis during the practical session:

  • FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II
  • FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II
  • FE 50mm F1.4 GM
  • FE 16-25mm F2.8 G
  • FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G OSS II
  • FE 50mm F2.5 G

  • Learners need to understand Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO.
  • Learners must be able to set camera’s exposure independently.
  • Recommended focal lengths are:
    • 35mm to 50mm (full-frame cameras)
    • 24mm to 35mm (APS-C cameras)

DAY 1: THEORY | 7PM to 9PM

This segment explores the thought process behind taking a photograph, focusing on how to develop the ability to see like a photographer.

Composition goes beyond aesthetics — it’s a tool for storytelling and intention. This section explores how to use visual structure to communicate meaning.

Learning Unit 4: Unlocking our Creative Vision through our Gears
This unit introduces how lenses and focal lengths can influence the way we perceive and capture a scene, helping photographers expand their visual vocabulary.

DAY 2: PRACTICAL & REVIEW | 9:30AM to 12PM

Guided Photo-walk
A hands-on shoot at Emerald Hill to apply learned concepts and experiment with different lenses

Photo Review & Group Discussion
Back in the classroom, participants will share and discuss selected images, focusing on intention, use of light, composition, and creative decision-making
