Luck and practice–that’s what it takes to capture the beautiful motion of the Japanese festival. I live for them–the energy, the emotion, the color! But my photos never seemed to capture these until I discovered the power of shutter dragging. It’s a technique that takes practice and luck to achieve–as well as a lens intimately tuned with your camera’s autofocus. Nothing beats the Alpha when it comes to autofocus, and nothing pairs better with an Alpha than a G-master. That’s how I was able to capture this beautiful umbrella dancer at the Hanagasa Festival in Yamagata. With this Sony superpower I can capture dancers and revelers in exquisite motion–and rely a little bit less on luck (which allows me to indulge a little bit more in the moment)!
