To participate, you need to have a Sony α camera and able to commit to the full duration of the program.

Coupled with ever-changing low lighting condtions and fleeting passionate moments, it can be a real challenge to shoot in a concert performance. This workshop aims to provide participants the stage to explore this interesting genre under the watchful guidance of an experienced concert photographer. Participants will also have the opportunity to shoot a live performance.

About The Instructor: Aloysius Lim​

Aloysius is an established wedding photographer by day, and a highly sought-after concert photographer by night. He spends most of his waking hours capturing the ultimate expression and intricacies of human emotions. His professional career allowed him to work closely with music labels and photograph musicians such as Coldplay, Green Day and Jason Mraz. He is also the designated photographer at popular music festivals such as Baybeats and Laneway Festival.

What to Expect?

Experience what if feels like to be a performance photographer for a night. During this 1-day workshop, the instructor will be sharing the techniques and camera settings to anticipate and capture passionate moments and fleeting expressions. More importantly, you will also have the chance to photograph a live performance on stage. In this casual world of performance photography, you can also expect to interact with like-minded photographers over food and drinks.

What Is Exclusive?

Participants get to shoot in front of the performing stage without the fear of interrupting other people who may be watching the concert. This is an exclusive arrangement made only for the participants of this workshop

The curriculum is designed for participants of all skills level using the Sony Alpha System.

However, participants must have a strong understanding of:

  1. The basics of camera exposure
  2. How to operate manual mode on their Sony Alpha camera

What to bring?
- Sony Alpha Camera
- Fully charged battery, with spare if possible
- SD Card(s) with sufficient memory available

Complimentary Loans
Selected lenses (including SEL135F18GM & SEL70200GM) will be available for complimentary loan during the workshop, however these lenses are limited and subjected to availability. Equipment will be loaned out based on the sequence of arrival during the workshop.

Module 1: Theory

- Recommended settings for performance photography
- Behind-the-scenes of performance photographer
- Techniques to anticipate and capture fleeting moments
- Overcoming low-light environment and noise-control
- How to take full advantage of your Sony Alpha Camera                                                                      

Model 2: Practical

- Photograph a live music performance
- Practice what was taught in the theory session
- Real-time guidance will be provided by instructor

Module 3: Feedback (Online) 

- Personalised feedbacks by instructor
